So this is the blog where everyone from Barney's morning flash class can post suggestions or make comments about the direction of the film. We are aiming to have the complete animatic done by the end of reading week (I believe that's the 1st week of March) so that we can actually finish the short by the end of the semester.
Right now though I need all of you to come up with gags, story ideas and concept art. Watch the Animatic below and help us build this world!
We are having a meeting next Monday at 12:30 in the A Class to share our ideas and try to make a more concrete storyline. See you all there!

So for a gag I was thinking (And I alone, Rafa totally did not put any input into this idea at all)that we should have a running gag going throughout the clip. So MY thought and totally not Rafas,Is Grandpa shows the little boy around the bayou by tele-porting him around. Much like how they tele-ported there in the pitch. Every time the kid gets tele-ported something bad happens to him. I.E Falling from the sky, weird transmutations, (teleport over to the sunken oil ship, he gets ported at the top of the steam stack and falls through it) <-- but funnier...
You know slap stick humor!
Well there is my Gag, All thought up by myself. yyyup... Ok fine Rafa too.
WOW SCOTT! Great suggestion, I'm glad we didn't speak yesterday - at all! I see it really let you get in your creative zone and come up with ideas one hundred precent by yourself. Funny Idea!

ReplyDeleteAlso one thing I always get a kick out of in Jimmy 2 Shoes, is when things don't make sense.
Examples: 1.Jimmy lands in a snowbank and his head sticks out of one side and his legs stick out of a completely different snow bank.
2.Characters can pop out of where ever. ie: grandpa could pop out from behind kid, from the top of the screen or side of the screen, or even from a book that the kid is reading. It doesn't have to make physical sense.
3. Characters can pull off their body parts to make stuff happen. ie: character takes off his leg to stir a vat of chocolate, or pulls off arm for shaking someones hand that's far away, or starts his body like a jackhammer to chop a block of cement in half.
Nonsense = funny.

Perhaps the wise, old grandpa remains the voice of reason and resistance towards the big money investors..i.e. everyone else in bayou uses new found wealth to buy new teeth and shirts to wear with their overalls..grandpa refuses to..clinging to "THE TOOTHLESS, TOPLESS TRADITIONS OF THE BAYOU!!" He is arrested for public/pubic indecency (as he sabotages candy production by dipping his massive, unkempt pubes into a vat.."YOUR COTTON CANDY IS NOW ROTTON CANDY")
